Keepin’ it real

I’m still here in Waynesboro playing journalist – and that suits me just fine.

The good news for my fellow News Virginian alums who had inexplicably followed Todd Foster down to Bristol – dude has moved on, which I’m sure suits them just fine.

The former el jefe at the local daily left here a few years back for Bristol, which this year won a Pulitzer for its work investigating shady natural-gas leases in Southwest Virginia.

Those here in Waynesboro who knew him or of him had to also know that the last thing the guy needed was another reason to shoot something else out his blowhole.

He’s now on his way from Bristol to Chattanooga, home of the choo-choo and a paper named the Free Press.

Funny how life comes full circle – in that he worked at the paper at the start of his career, and that he went out of his way to play the heavy with us at our Free Press.

(Something about me not being a real reporter. Like I needed his blessing.)
